When transferring into the department, students should meet with an assigned advisor before registering for classes to evaluate their technical courses and to have help in planning their schedule for completion of remaining course work.
If you are transferring from BYU Idaho, see the list of transferable courses.
The Transfer Evaluation Office only evaluates credit that is appropriate university credit and applies toward University requirements. This process has been automated so that the transfer classes may be evaluated and an ABC report sent to the student the same day he or she is admitted to the university. Since the process is automated, approximately 80% of the courses that are brought in have previously been evaluated and are tracked on the system. As a result, the evaluators are adding information on about 20% of the classes they review.
The university has a historic record of courses taken at other schools that have been certified by each of the university departments as equivalent to BYU courses. This has been done on a database which the Transfer Evaluation Office accesses. Like graduation evaluation, the transfer evaluation process sends a report to new transfer students the same day the evaluation occurs.
